How to create a new Google Analytics account

To create a new Google Analytics account when you already have one, follow these steps:
- Login to Google Analytics
- Click on Admin
- Click on the Account dropdown
- Click on Create new account
- Type in the name of the business in the Account Name field
- Type in the name of the business + “Website” in the Website Name field
- Enter the Website URL
- Select the client’s Reporting Time Zone
- Uncheck all the Data Sharing options
- Click on Get Tracking ID
- Accept the Terms and Conditions
If you’re setting up Google Tag Manager then you’ll also want to copy the tracking ID.
Recommendations
As a best practice we recommend duplicating your default view to make sure that you don’t work on the original, as if you apply the wrong filter you can lose data that is irrecoverable. To do this:
- Click on View Settings
- Rename this view to Original View (Do Not Edit)
- Click on Save
- Click on Copy view
- Name this new view as Main View
- Click on Copy view to save the changes
